A Simple Explanation of the Manna Program
The St. Christina Manna program is a program in which you buy gift certificates for participating vendors for face value and in return you or someone you designate, receive a tuition credit.
What is the benefit of participating in the Manna Program?
When you participate in Manna you earn a tuition credit. Families who participate in Manna have saved over $500 a year in tuition costs. You participate as much or as little as you want, there are no contracts, no minimums, just a little planning on your part to buy Manna before shopping!
How much money can I really save?
It depends on how much you buy. Below is an example of how much you would save on a purchase.
Jewel/Dominicks/Family Pride/County Fair/Kmart (3%) $100
Your tuition credit = $3.00
Bourbon Street (10.5%) $20
Your tuition credit = $2.10
Beggars/ChiTung (6.75%) $20
Your tuition credit = $1.35
Speedway Gas (3%) $100
Your tuition credit = $3.00
For this one week - you purchased $240 dollars in certificates and will receive a $9.45 tuition credit. If you did this same purchase every week for a year - your tuition savings would be $491.40 - and this is for money you would have to spend anyway.
As you can see, the more you buy - the more you save and higher percentage discounts provide greater credits. There are over 60 vendors available to purchase from weekly and that number will go up to over 100 for November and December.
Does Manna take credit cards for payment?
We only accept cash or check for payment.
I heard I can pay some credit card bills with Manna?
Currently you can make payments on your Kohls credit card. Purchase the amount you need from us and then when you are at the store you can pay the bill at customer service or at a register. The certificates should not be sent through the mail for payment.
When will I receive my tuition credit?
St. Christina credits earned between July and December will be issued on the January tuition envelope. Credits earned between January and June will be issued on the August tuition envelope. CCD / High School / College credits earned July-June will be issued in July.
Can this program be used for High School or College Tuition?
Another way to take advantage of this program is to use it to pay for high school or college tuition. If you have a child in high school or college and have no other children attending St. Christina School, then any purchases you make will accumulate tuition credits to be used toward the high school or college tuition.
What if I transfer from this school to another Catholic grammar school?
Should you transfer to another school midyear and all tuition payments are up to date, your accumulated credit can be transferred to the new Catholic school your child will attend. You also have the option of transferring your credit to another St. Christina school family’s account.
If you cannot use the credit at the new school and you do not transfer it to another family’s account, your tuition credit will be forfeited and will remain in the Manna account.
This program does not allow us to personally reimburse you for any accumulated credit. The credit can only be used towards tuition or as profit for the Manna Program.
Can others buy for me?
Yes, your parents, siblings, neighbors, etc... can all buy Manna certificates either through your order or if they want to stop by and purchase they just need to include your name on the Manna sheet.
What if I have a large order?
We carry most of our inventory in groceries, gas, Kohls and locals (Bourbon, Beggars, ChiTung, Face to Face). We usually have a few hundred in those mentioned. However, if you need to get $500 in Menards or $200 in Olive Garden, you should pay for it in advance by Monday at 12 Noon in the Rectory and we will have the order filled for you by the following Wednesday evening.
How do I order certificates?
Manna orders can dropped off at the rectory with the receptionist. Orders must be dropped off by 12 Noon on Monday. The envelope should be marked MANNA and payment should be included. These orders will be filled and can be picked up any time after 5:30 pm on Wednesday evenings. Manna is available in the rectory Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
