 The St. Christina Athletic Association offers Boys Basketball in Grades 3-8. Basketball is open to St. Christina students and Religious Education students in good academic/behavioral standing. Religious Education students MUST present a certified birth certificate at registration to be eligible to play. Registration takes place in September. Practices begin at the completion of football season (November) with games starting around Thanksgiving.
The Registration for Boys Basketball for the Year 2011-2012 is over.
The mission of the Basketball Program is:
- To teach the skills of the game, to foster healthy exercise, to teach fair play and sportsmanship, and to give enjoyment of the sport to the students.
- To have an opportunity to utilize skills by playing games.
- To develop team loyalty and school spirit by cooperating with teammates and coaches.
- To build self-esteem, self-confidence, character and respect for others.
In 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, we offer Instructional Basketball. We will divide our teams equally and students get equal playing time. Competitive Basketball is offered in Grades 6 through 8. After registration, there will be tryouts with an outside / independent evaluator who will choose an A team and a B team for 6th, 7th and 8th Grade.
Fees for the 2011-2012 Season are as follows:
$60 for 3rd Grade (includes T-shirt)
$75 for 4th Grade
$130 for one Boy Grades 5-8
$200 maximum fee for 2 or more boys
3rd Graders will wear a uniform T-Shirt, the cost of which is covered by your fees. 4th and 5th Graders will wear the same uniform for 2 years. 6th -8th Grade wears the same uniform for 3 years. The approximate uniform fees for 2011 are:
$35 for 4th & 5th Grades
$45 for 6th-8th Grades
There is a $50 fee for late sign up. Please watch the parish bulletin and school newsletter for sign up / registration information.
There is also a $25 gym pass fee which admits your family to all gym sports at St. Christina for the 2011-2012 Season.
Families of players in grades 5-8 are asked to volunteer a few hours in the concession stand. A $50 check will be collected at registration. It will be returned to you at completion of volunteer hours.
All teams in grades 4-8 will compete in 2 leagues and practice weekly. 3rd grade competes in one league. Anyone interested in coaching boys’ basketball can contact the coordinator.
